Storyboard Changes

Due to the alterations we had to make along the way there has been some alterations to the storyboard.

The main changes were:

1. We changed the main character(murderer) from Mr.Vicni to Miss Vicini, who is Mr. Vicini's daughter. This change was due to the difficulty of getting the actor ot play the main character.

2. Another change was one of the props was gonna be a bicycle which Malcolm was going to ride but we couldn't get the prop so we changed it to a football and he was holding the football and then dropped it when he saw Miss Vicini and the dead body as he was shocked.

3. We added a scene of Miss Vicini coming down the stairs and reading a post it note in the kitchen. It had a message on from her dad, asking aimee to take the rubbish out. Instead of taking the rubbish out Aimee took a dead body out in a rubbish bag an this is wear Malcolm sees her. Her and her dad work together and he said take the rubbish out but that wasn't really what he meant... He meant take the dead body and put it in the bin.

Evaluation Question 2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I am going to compare Miss Vicini and the Stepfather out of the film The Stepfather. My opening titles of my film were based around the film the Stepfather so that is why I am comparing these two charcters.

These two characters are different from each other but then they are very similar too.

The similarities between these two characters are:

They are both moving into a new neighbourhood and they are both murders but they aren't represented as looking like a typical murdered they just look like normal everyday characters wearing everyday clothes. So this shows they have the same role in each film which is a murderer. 

Miss Vicini is wearing normal everyday clothes jeans, and a red jumper. We chose these clothes for a reason, the red jumper represents blood and danger because of course she is a murderer. The  Stepfather is wearing...

The differences between these two characters are:

Well the most obvious one is gender. The stepfather is male and Miss Vicini is female but they still play the same roles in the film. 

 

Final Task: Rough Cut

This is a rough edit of our final task: Vicini. There is still some things that need making better but this is our first edit.

Sounds connected with horror

This video shows how it has evolved and how it relates to society. It is showing how it has evolved from 1920s to the 21st century. This gives you an idea of how its changed this is due to many factors. One of these factors could be that technology has improved to enable higher quality films.

In what ways does your media product use,develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? (i.e. of film openings).

 

MISE EN SCENE

Costume:
The costumes that were used in this film were chosen for a reason. Miss Vicini shown in the nine frames above, is wearing casual clothes as she is a murderer but we don't want her to look like a murderer we just wanted her to look like a normal teenager. She is wearing a red jumper this jumper was chosen to connote blood, danger and death. These are all connotations of horror and murder. Mr Vicini is not shown in these nine frames but he is wearing, black trousers, white shirt and a black tie. The black represents death and the white represents purity. We have put purity and death together because he looks like he is harmless from the outside but inside he is actually from a family with a murderer in who we works with.  

Lighting:
Most of the lighting used in this film opening is natural light which is high key. We have chosen natural lighting because it is mostly outdoors and we didn't need to alter the lighting because the natural lighting worked well with the acting.

Setting:
The setting of this film opening is at a house in a quiet neighbourhood. We chose this location because we got inspired by the film, The Stepfather and the location for that film was a neighbourhood. We also thought again that we wanted the murderer to move into a normal neighbourhood and not be noticed as being a murderer.

Props:
The props we used were: Highlighter, newspaper, knife, carrot, bin bag, football, post-it notes.The main prop that links to horror is a knife, we chose to use a knife to link with the connotations of horror, violence and death. For the audience seeing a knife and it being used quite violently will make them think of horror or threat.

CAMERA WORK

Shots:
We used an over the shoulder shot when Miss Vicini was looking at the post-it note to allow the audience to see what Miss Vicni was seeing from her point of view.

Movement:
 We used a pan, the camera moves from Malcolm who is looking at Miss Vicini to Miss Vicini this is showing the audience what Malcolm is looking at and that he is shocked by what he has just seen Miss Vicni do.

TITLES

Main Title:
The font used for the main title was chosen because it looks like i child may have written it with a crayon or piece of chalk. We wanted it to look like this because our initial idea for advertisement was going to be drawn by Malcolm.The writing also looks quite rough and distorted which links with the connotations of horror.

The titles throughout the film opening:
I chose to choose black and white font for these title because it links to purity and death again which i mentioned earlier in the costume section. The purity is for the Vicni family looking pure and normal from the outside but inside there is a murderer in their family.

I have put the main title at the end in big font because i have watched other film openings and Insidious Film Opening has the title in a big font and it is made to scare you because it pops up on the screen with loud sound like my title does. This shows links to other media products, opening titles to INSIDIOUS.
